Two Motivational Poems on Self-care By our youth volunteers

Self-Care To Self-Repair

Lying in bed
A pile of thoughts in head
Immobility has bred
A mind so dead.

Fighting the imprisoned self is tough-
Living with internal conflicts is rough.

Initially it might seem strange
To care for yourself for a change.
Confront the thought of self-estrange
Come out of your grange
For a verbal exchange.

You have always looked for approval in the Other’s Eye-
For once do what you want without being shy.

Caring for oneself is not being selfish
Challenge yourself with a target to accomplish.

It’s time you begin to love yourself,
Look at the unread books on the shelf.

Now is the time to make the bucket-list
Enlist the things you have missed-

Now is the time to be self-amorist

With an ounce of self-care be your own alchemist.

Albatrosses

The summer’s coming exams are over
And you feel like a free bird now
All your friends make skiing plans
But then you feel left out somehow

Early morning you take a jog
Sayin it’s gonna clear your head
You see a bunch of friends and think
I shouldn’t ‘ve left from home instead

Chorus –

But a little bit of downs and silence is okay
Some are sunny bright , others are rainy days
It’s fun even if you’re out alone on Sundays
Just take a trip around the city , you’lll be merry that way

You think sometimes that being alone
It means that you’re a loner
You’re gonna find your tribe for sure
More sooner than later

Chorus-

But a little bit of downs and silence is okay
Some are sunny bright , others are rainy days
Cuz even people with 10 friends aren’t content
So strip these feelings off , this albatross around your neck
